Obsidian
Obsidian is a natural glass that is formed when hot lava cools down very quickly. It has a very smooth surface and can be found in a variety of colours, including black, brown, grey, and even green. Early humans used obsidian to make tools and weapons because it is extremely sharp, lacks impurities and can be easily shaped. It was also used for making mirrors (often magical, such as scrying) and jewellery.
